David Cameron has been sent hundreds of pounds worth of baby gifts following the birth of his fourth child, it has been revealed.

The prime minister received gifts from organisations including Marks & Spencer, babywear online retailer Huggababy and the Crown Prince of Dubai after the arrival of Florence in August.

However underneath ministerial rules, any gifts worth more than £140 have to be declared and that any presents accepted by government members have to be paid for.

Published by the Cabinet Office, the latest publication of ministerial hospitality disclosed that gifts from M&S and Huggababy were being "held by the department".

Gifts received from the Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed have been "part-puchased by the prime minister".

Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg was sent just one gift over £140, a briefcase from South Africa's deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe.

The list of gifts and hospitality in August and September also revealed the prime minister accepted free theatre tickets from actress Whoopi Goldberg, following her visit to Number 10 in the summer.
