Parliamentary Reception 2012

Parliamentary reception: Paralysis – determining the future for the spinal cord injured

Kindly hosted by Ian Lucas MP

Wednesday 7th March, Strangers’ Dining Room, House of Commons, 16:00-18:00pm

Dods, the House Magazine & PoliticsHome are to host an afternoon reception in partnership with Spinal Research.

The reception will be an important opportunity to review and discuss the latest developments in the progress towards successful treatment of spinal cord injury.

The event is designed to help parliamentarians:

Understand the steps being taken to translate research into treatments that are safe to use on humans.

Understand the implications for the clinical infrastructure in the treatment of spinal cord injury in the UK.

Explore the benefits of medical research, including strengthening the economy, improving people's lives and keeping Britain ahead in scientific endeavour and innovation.

In the UK, the medical profession is on the brink of applying therapies that will change the lives of people living with paralysis. It is important now to drive basic research into the clinic. The reception aims to inform all guests about the next steps needed to ensure the successful implementation of translational research in the clinical setting.

Spinal Research is the UK's leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop reliable treatments for paralysis caused by a broken back or neck.
