Driving demand; Creating opportunities for the commercialisation of low-carbon technologies

The final report from a major inquiry looking at the creation of opportunities for the commercialisation of low carbon technologies will be launched at the House of Commons at 12.30 pm on 25th February.

The seven-month Carbon Connect inquiry has been co-chaired by Lord Oxburgh, ex-Shell boss, and Dr. Jack Frost, a specialist in fuel-cell technology.

The report will make calls for government to consider a range of ideas including: supporting the commercialisation of low carbon products by commissioning low carbon outcomes in public procurement, valuing carbon emissions saved through efficiency equally to emissions saved through renewable energy generation and developing more ambitious regulatory mechanisms to shape the market for low carbon technologies.

Carbon Connect announced the inquiry in July 2009. The inquiry focused on three major case study areas – energy efficiency in homes, personal transport, and embedded carbon in products and services.

The report is sponsored by Consensus Business Group and Addleshaw Goddard LLP.

Speakers include:

Lord Oxburgh, report Co-Chair, ex-head of Shell

Dr Jack Frost, report co-chair and Director of Johnson Matthey Fuel Cells

David Kidney MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change

Barry Sheerman MP, Carbon Connect founder
