Waste Management Infrastructure: Incentivising community buy-in inquiry launch

The ASPRG is launching a major report into how residents and communities can be incentivised to adopt the 500 new waste facilities that the government predicts will need to be built in the next ten years if we are to meet landfill reduction targets. The report will be launched at the House of Commons at 1pm on Wednesday 24th February 2010.

The five-month inquiry from the cross-party Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group (APSRG), co-signed by Dr. Alan Whitehead MP (Lab), Dan Rogerson MP (Lib Dem) and Lord Taylor of Holbeach CBE (Con), focuses on how the 500 new waste management plants the government has outlined will be needed to meet landfill reduction targets, can be made advantageous to local communities and overcome 'NIMBYISM'.

The Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group commenced the inquiry in October 2009.

The report is sponsored by the SITA UK.
