About us
National Care Leavers’ Week is made possible by a unique coalition of organisations representing the voluntary and private sectors as well as local government who are concerned about the futures of young people who have been brought up in public care. Care leaver led groups in England and Wales make an important contribution to this coalition, as well as individual young people and adult care leavers.
The aim of National Care Leavers’ Week is to ensure that the issues which affect care leavers remain at the forefront of the minds of both national legislators and local commissioners of services. We also aim to improve practice by providing opportunities for dissemination and sharing of good practice and up to date research.
In particular we hope that this year's National Care Leavers' Week will give the new team in Westminster the opportunity to set out their vision for children leaving public care, and explain how they intend to ensure this group remains a priority despite heavy cuts across public services.
