Welcome
Welcome to the Mentoring + Befriending Foundation website
The national body for mentoring and befriending aims to:
- Provide leadership for the mentoring and befriending movement
- Encourage organizations to use mentoring and befriending
- Provide capacity building support to programmes through a national and regional body infrastructure
- Promote quality and standards in training
- Develop and share best practice in mentoring and befriending
We have developed a national infrastructure with regional co-ordinators established in each of the nine government regions with responsibility for engaging with and supporting practitioners in the field.
Based on our ongoing mapping of mentoring and befriending activity, we currently reach over 3000 projects in the Voluntary and Community Sector. This figure continues to rise as mentoring and befriending becomes increasingly seen as an effective way of tackling social exclusion.
Read MBF's Corporate Strategy 2006-2009 for more information about our priorities.
