UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA)

The UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) is the trade association for UK timber frame manufacturers and the sector Established in 2002, we now represent the interests of over 80 per centof the timber frame manufacturers in the UK.

Our job is to:

  • Explain timber frame to the construction industry, to policy makers and to the general public;
  • Provide information and guidance, both technical and consumer;
  • Promote higher standards through our Q-Mark quality scheme and training services;
  • Help all sectors of UK construction exploit the benefits of timber frame - speed of build, thermal and acoustic excellence, durability, environmental excellence and design flexibility.

We work closely with Government in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as Europe. We also liaise with NGOs such as the WWF, and housing and forestry industry representatives, including BRE, NHBC, Zurich Municipal, Centre for Timber Engineering and TRADA.

UK Structural Insulated Panel Association (UKSIPS)

The UK Structural Insulated Panel Association – is the authoritative voice of the Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) industry in the UK.

The Association is committed to stringent standards of quality and service and sets a professional benchmark for the SIP industry.

Members include the principal SIP manufacturers, industry suppliers and professionals involved with design and construction using SIP technology.

UK SIP Association membership is open to all organisations involved with or interested in SIP technology and is also open to include trade associations and other recognized bodies with links to the SIP industry.

Steel Living Group

Since it was established in 2004, originally as the Steel Homes Group, the SLG has represented major players from the UK steel home manufacturers and builders, and become the leading industry authority focused on developing and promoting the effective use of steel products and systems in residential construction.

It has worked to ensure that the significant contribution steel products and systems make towards providing quality, cost effective housing that is kind to the environment is more fully recognised and exploited by the market.

The Group has lobbied government and other policy making and influential bodies to communicate the positive benefits of using steel in residential construction such as reduced cost, quality, adaptability, sustainability and speed of construction that could help achieve their ambitious housing plans.

The Steel Living Group is one of several special interest groups supported and hosted by The Steel Construction Institute (SCI). As such, the group benefits from the latest industry research and best practice from the steel industry's leading independent research and technical organisation.

The group works independently and in partnership with key construction and government bodies to:

  • Promote the value of steel in residential construction to occupiers, developers and specifiers.
  • Guard and support quality regulations and standards in steel home construction such as the Code for Sustainable Homes.
  • Communicate the benefits of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and offsite construction.
  • Provide clear relevant data and advice on steel in residential construction.
  • Highlight the clear advantages that steel offers over traditional construction.
