The charity also works with disabled people in 57 countries worldwide working in partnership with more than 255 autonomous and locally managed services and organisations.
Campaigning in the UK
Leonard Cheshire campaigns for the rights of disabled people in the UK and raises awareness of the issues affecting them. We are committed to empowering and supporting disabled people to lobby individually and collectively for change to benefit their own lives. Working alongside disabled people we seek to secure a fully inclusive and accessible society with disability equality, social inclusion and social justice. Through local and national campaigning and with your support we hope to achieve:
- Comprehensive disability civil rights legislation
- A fully accessible transport system
- Adequate and affordable social care services
- Fully accessible primary health care services
- Equal employment opportunities for disabled people
- Equal access to all education and training opportunities
