Corporate Social Responsibilty
Welcome to Legal & General Group's 2007 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report.
Doing business in a responsible, sustainable way goes hand in hand with doing business successfully. It is one way L&G can ensure it has a long-term future as a trusted and well-regarded financial services organisation.
Legal & General is in the fortunate position of not only having direct control over its social and environmental impact through its CSR programme but also extending the setting of high standards of operation in others, as a result of its Investments, its Supply Chain and its Property Management influence. L&G's CSR programme includes the following areas at its core:
- A company that holds almost 5% of the FTSE on behalf of its clients and influences other companies to act sustainably through its corporate governance programme.
- A company that, as one of the biggest property fund managers in the UK, has sustainable property development practices at its core.
- A company that was the first financial services company to achieve ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system.
- A company that is a founding member and signatory of the ABI's Climatewise programme.
- A company that, through its employees efforts, donated £2.4m to the communities in which it operates.
- A company that has a 90% rating from Business in the Community for its Social Supplier programme.
