Law Society
About the Society
The Law Society represents all 116,000 solicitors in England and Wales and our key priorities are:
- Representing the interests of solicitors and the profession
- Supporting solicitors to help them deliver a good service and achieve the standards expected of them
- Influencing law reform to help establish a better justice system with equal access for all
At the beginning of 2005, the Society established an independent Board to oversee the Solicitors Regulation Authority and take over the Society's former regulatory responsibilities. At the same time the Society's Consumer Complaints Service was made independent under a Board with a majority of lay members, becoming the Legal Complaints Service.
