Industry overview
The UK investment management industry is one of the most developed in the world, both in terms of the range of investors it serves and the size and breadth of assets in which it invests.
More than two-thirds of funds managed by IMA members represent the savings of UK citizens and include pensions, life assurance, authorised investment funds, ISAs, and private client investments.
Investment management in the UK is estimated to generate almost 0.7%* of GDP, including a significant contribution of £2.47 billion annually to net exports, and has the largest assets under management in Europe. The UK is also a significant global centre for asset management with 30% of its assets being managed on behalf of overseas clients.
IMA publishes monthly statistics on the industry, and these are available here.
