How we can help

FTA is able to use its extensive knowledge of freight transport and logistics across road, rail, sea and air to provide accurate and intelligent information to policy makers.

The Freight Transport Association is one of the largest trade associations in the UK, representing the views and interests of 13,000 companies. Together, FTA members operate 200,000 heavy goods vehicles, about half of the UK fleet, as well as over 90 per cent of freight moved by rail in the UK and over 70 per cent of visible exports.

FTA's members include manufacturers, retailers, logistics companies, hauliers and organisations in the public and private sectors. They are vital to the efficient distribution of goods and delivery of services throughout the UK.

Our aim is to inform the transport policy debate with our experience and understanding, and we provide briefings to help you understand the issues. We regularly work with Parliamentarians, for example, through providing

• Written and oral evidence to Select Committee inquiries
• Face to face and written briefings to MPs and Peers on transport related issues
• Thoroughly researched reports affecting transport, the economy and the environment
