Speaking at the event were Labour MP Parmjit Dhanda, shadow corporate governance spokesman Jonathan Djanogly and Liberal Democrat business, enterprise and regulatory reform spokesman John Thurso. The event was chaired by the chair of the business and enterprise select committee, Peter Luff.
Brian Nimick, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, opened the proceedings by pointing to the fact that improvements to the health and safety system could save the economy £31bn and stressed the need to "rescue the health and safety agenda back from the media".
