The MND Association is the only national organisation in England , Wales and Northern Ireland dedicated to the support of people with MND and those who care for them.

The Association's vision is of a World Free of MND. Our mission is to fund and promote research to bring about an end to MND. Until that time, we will do all we can to enable everyone with MND to receive the best care, achieve the highest quality of life possible and to die with dignity. We will also do all we can to support the families and carers of people with MND.

Current campaigns

We are currently running a number of campaigns:

  • Increase Government funding in MND research. We launched the MND Research Foundation in October 2006, which is designed to raise the funding needed to support national and international research efforts to end MND. To read more about the Research Foundation please click here.
  • Respiratory support available to everyone with MND. We are currently running a campaign to improve access to non-invasive ventilation (NIV) for people with MND. Research recently published shows that NIV can significantly improve quality of life for people with MND and extend survival by an average of six months. For further information please click here.
  • Fast access to appropriate equipment and adaptations for everyone with MND. There are often delays of several months for people accessing equipment, particularly wheelchairs. To see in more detail the problems people living with MND face please click here.
  • Palliative care from diagnosis for everyone with MND. Because symptoms may arise very quickly and survival may be short, palliative care should be offered soon after diagnosis to people with MND. For a briefing on palliative care please click here.
