Press Release

Voice becomes Memory 4 Teachers partner

26 March 2009

Education professionals' union Voice has become involved with a unique programme that will bring quality services and resources to the fingertips of busy staff in and out of the classroom. The independent union, which provides expert employment support and advice to its teacher and education support staff members throughout the UK, has become a partner of Memory 4 Teachers, a national campaign funding the distribution of 750,000 memory sticks across the country.

The free USB memory sticks are password secure and are preloaded with a fully interactive control panel, various educational resources and software applications. The applications provide functions such as a diary, timetable and lesson plans as well as offering support for all national curriculum subject areas. The memory sticks also give with direct access to recommended educational websites.

Voice General Secretary Philip Parkin – a former primary school deputy head teacher and IT co-ordinator – said: "This is a ground-breaking scheme that will be of great benefit to school staff, enabling them to transfer information easily between work, home and laptops.

"Teaching assistants, administrators and other support staff can also benefit – not just teachers."

The partnership with Memory 4 Teachers is the latest in a range of partnership and branded benefits on offer to Voice members, including CPD opportunities through the Open University, provision of reduced eye care with Vision Express, special rates for self-employed professional indemnity insurance and discounts through providers such as Norwich Union, Holiday Extras and well-known hotel chains.
