Stewponey trespassers putting their lives at risk

4 May 2007

Motorcyclists trespassing on the mothballed landfill facility at Stewponey near Stourbridge are putting their lives at risk and making life a misery for local people.

That’s the warning from site operator, Biffa Waste Services, which is working to prevent trespassers at the site.

“We make every effort to keep people out, but fencing and barriers are continuously vandalised,” said Peter Lunt, the company’s closed sites manager.

“This is an industrial facility and no one in their right mind would use an industrial area for leisure activities. It is patently unsafe to do so. The noise of these motorcyclists is also causing a significant noise nuisance to nearby residents.”

“Biffa is working with the local authorities to highlight the dangers and prosecute consistent offenders. If you see anyone trespassing on site, please alert the authorities. The dangers are very real and you may help save their life.”
