Sea and Water sets sail for Westminster

31 August 2006

Sea and Water, the thought-leader promoting the need to move more freight in the UK by water via the coastal ring road, and the 2,000 miles of inland waterways, rivers and estuaries has moved into its brand new headquarters in Westminster from its previous base in Lambeth.

The organisation’s new office is situated on the first floor of the Queen Anne’s Business Centre at 28 Broadway, London SW1H 9JX, opposite St James’ Park Underground Station.  Dr Heather Leggate, director of Sea and Water, says that the move is timely as it is part of the organisation’s overall strategy to appeal to wider audiences and we also needed some more office space.

“I am delighted that Sea and Water has moved into the new office as it fits in with our new strategy to communicate more effectively and we had outgrown our existing premises.  The new office is within walking distance from the heart of government and policy makers which is key to the success of Sea and Water.  We have to maximise our influence over the opinion formers and the policies they make to facilitate and achieve a modal shift from moving freight onto water and the other environmentally-sustainable mode of rail.”

She added that the office benefits both Sea and Water’s staff and its 130 or so supporters by offering:

  • Discounted meeting facilities
  • And favourable rates with the Holiday Inn hotel chain
  • A cafe.
