SATs Fiasco – Ken Boston's Evidence
22 April 2009
Commenting on the appearance by Ken Boston, former QCA chief, before the Commons Children Schools and Families Select Committee, Christine Blower, Acting General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, Europe's largest teaching union, said;
"No amount of blame shifting by the Government and juggling of test contracts, nor indeed denial of their responsibility for the tests debacle last summer, can conceal the obvious; the current tests system is long overdue for abolition and Ken Boston is simply the latest victim of a poisonous high stakes system.
"It is time that the Government recognised that National Curriculum tests do not work, cost a vast amount of money to administer and lead to the divisive and corrosive school performance tables. They need to go."
