Press Release

Newsletter - March 2008

Dear Member

We advised you in our last Newsletter that we were in the process of upgrading our website to bring you a variety of new and improved features.  That time has now arrived and we are writing to advise you that, as a consequence, our website may be offline for some of the time between the 1st and 8th April 2008.  We apologise for any inconvenience, but this downtime is essential for us to complete the necessary upgrades to our software and security systems to ensure a smooth transition to the new Website and Online Training facility.  We will inform you as soon as the new Website goes live.

We are aware that this downtime on the site will affect the following areas.

• Access to the Election information:   If you have already had a chance to view the personal statements of the nominees then please print the voting form attached to this email and return it ASAP to the PO Box listed on the form.
• Access to Conference information:   Just to remind you that we are now taking bookings for the Manchester venue (30th June - 1st July) and Oxford (8th - 9th July). A booking form is also attached.
• Access to your Forums:   Be assured we are chasing all the issues related to job roles and following an article in the recent SecED newspaper on exams office staff there will be an article in this week’s Times Educational Supplement on Friday.

When you log on to the new website for the first time YOU WILL BE REQUIRED to update your registration in order to access the website and online courses.  It will only take 2 minutes to complete this task which will include verifying your email address (the email address which we hold for you is the address to which this e-mail is being sent) and exam centre number and providing a new password.  When you select the link, you will be taken straight to a registration upgrade page to complete these requirements.

Once you have verified your details, you will be sent a further email link to activate your membership. From that point forward, your new login in details will be your email address and new password. The change of login procedure is designed to improve the security of the site for all our members and to facilitate the transition between the website and other online services, both existing and future.

The email verification link we send should arrive within an hour of you completing your update. We recommend that in and around that time, if you have still not received it, you check your Junk Mail / Spam folder in case your Network systems classify this link as potential Spam.

We take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and feel that the new website will meet the needs of our members and provide greater opportunities for further development.

With best wishes
The EOA Team
