September 8 2009

Burdens Environmental are the NFB's preferred partner to promote sustainable and green construction methods to its members.

Following the completion of a comprehensive survey of NFB members clearly identifying the need for practical, in-depth and expert help to promote sustainable construction, the NFB has appointed Burdens Environmental as strategic partner to champion and support green construction methods to its members. This focussed and practical arrangement will see Burdens offering a range of services to all NFB members including training with 'hands on' demonstrations for green products; a dedicated information and ordering helpline and technical and practical assistance on choosing what products to use. NFB members will also have full access to the unique 'Greenspec' on-line specification builder which helps designers, architects and contractors achieve the highest environmental standards of construction. In addition, there will be member offers and deals on a wide range of products from renewables to insulation through Burdens' Ecomerchant brand.

Julia Evans, chief executive of the NFB, said: "The NFB's Sustainable Construction report highlighted the gap between member skills and knowledge and their desire to build sustainably. By partnering with Burdens Environmental, the NFB is able to bridge that gap by offering members a comprehensive service that includes training, practical, impartial information and access to a wide range of products. The addition of Burdens Environmental's unique offering to the National Federation of Builders' industry-leading portfolio of services allows members to focus on what they do best, which is build."

Kevin Hancock, Burdens' group corporate development director, said: "This is a unique national service designed to support the medium to small size building companies who have been overlooked when it comes to educating and supporting sustainable construction, we applaud the NFB for creating this much needed new venture and we now look forward to providing real help to real builders to make a real change"
