Our latest report: Funding for mentoring and befriending: challenges and opportunities highlights the findings of a recent survey we undertook with mentoring and befriending projects across England.
The report gives a snapshot of the funding climate as it is today and the key challenges and opportunities facing mentoring and befriending projects which include the pressure they are under to compete for funding, the importance of building strong relationships with funders and the challenges they face in evidencing impact.
As part of our response to the findings, MBF will be campaigning on the following three issues over the next few months:
· Pushing government, commissioners and funders to provide three year funding as the norm for mentoring and befriending projects
· Working with research organisations to support more longitudinal research into the impact of mentoring and befriending
· Asking commissioners and funders to recognise the Approved Provider Standard (APS) as the benchmark standard when it comes to funding mentoring and befriending projects
See the Foreword of the report for a summary of the strategies we are pursuing to increase the level of support available to mentoring and befriending projects during the economic downturn which includes a series of regional events bringing together commissioners, funders and projects. Please get in touch if you require further information on any of our work.
