London First comment on 'Only in London' tourism campaign

17 November 2009

Business organisation, London First welcomed the Mayor's announcement of a £400,000 extension to the 'Only in London' tourism campaign.

Baroness Jo Valentine, chief executive of London First said:

"Only in London was just what the doctor ordered – a boost to hotels and restaurants, tourism attractions and West End retailers. When a campaign works as well as this one has, it makes great sense to continue, with extra funds."

Earlier in the year, many of London's leisure and retail businesses asked the Mayor to increase marketing spend in this sector, to bolster London through the worst of the recession. The Mayor responded with the creative and highly effective 'Only in London' campaign, to remind would-be visitors and Londoners themselves of the unique attractions and excellent value on offer in the city.
