Labour Party conference votes by massive margin to end UK opt out from EU working time directive
The Labour Party Conference carried, by a massive majority of all but a handful of delegates, a GMB emergency motion on ending the UK opt out on the Working Time Directive when the issue goes back to the European Parliament. Paul Kenny GMB General Secretary moved the motion and after the vote he said, ”This motion was passed with only a handful of votes against by the entire Labour Party Conference. It is now unequivocal Labour Party policy to end the ‘opt out’. MEPs now know that they have the full support of the entire Party when the matter comes back to the European Parliament.” The text of the GMB motion is available at www.gmb.org.uk Contact: GMB Press Office on 0208 947 3131.
