Press Release
ICSA to contribute to Walker review
18 March 2009
The Institute of Chartered Secretaries is to respond to Sir David Walker's review of governance in the banking sector by distilling the considerable body of knowledge, skills and experience of the company secretary community to advise on the Boardroom-behavioural aspects of governance, a contribution which has been welcomed by Sir David.
David Wilson, ICSA's Director of Policy and Strategy, said: 'This initiative will be action-oriented with practical suggestions for securing changes in Boardroom behaviours, where necessary. This follows the recent announcement by ICSA and Hermes Equity Share Ownership Services of an awards scheme to reward excellence in corporate governance disclosure in Britain's largest companies. This latest initiative by ICSA demonstrates the strong commitment of our profession to proactive and focused solutions in the context of the current crisis and the review of governance being conducted by Sir David Walker. We expect our work will also be relevant to the review of the Combined Code, which was announced today by the Financial Reporting Council.'
