Champions of cricket join up with champions of safety
The British Safety Council (BSC), a leading workplace health and safety charity, has teamed up with Sussex County Cricket Club (SCCC) to promote and improve safety awareness throughout the workplace.
SCCC has signed up to take part in a program developed by the BSC, that seeks to deliver a national standard of safety training to all employees. During May 2008 a total of 34 members of staff employed at the County Ground undertook the training and sat the exams to obtain a Certificate in Health and Safety. The awards complement the NVQ training awards achieved by the Club stewards at training sessions held during the year.
Gus Mackay, Chief Executive, said: "The achievements underline the commitment of the Club to improve safety standards in all areas, for the benefit of employees and the general public visiting the ground. The safety awareness does not stop with this training, it will continue as part of the safety culture throughout the organisation."
Brian Nimick, Chief Executive of the BSC, commented: "We are delighted to be working with organisations such as SCCC. Good health and safety in an organisation is an incredibly important asset and we are delighted that the SCCC have decided to do their training in partnership with us."
