Health Professions Council meeting agenda summary

This is a summary of the agenda for the Council meeting to be held on Thursday 10 September. The full agenda and papers are available on our website at:

A summary of decisions will be made available on the HPC's website within fifteen working days of the meeting.

Revalidation project update

The Council will be asked to discuss an outline of further work on the issues around revalidation.

Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence (CHRE) performance review

The Council will be asked to discuss the CHRE's review of HPC's performance during 2008/09.

Application for the regulation of sonographers from the Society and College of Radiographers

The Council will be asked to further consider the application for sonographers to be regulated by HPC, which was previously considered in 2008.

Application for the regulation of genetic counsellors from the Association of Genetic Counsellors and Nurses

The Council will be asked to discuss the application for genetic counsellors to be regulated by HPC.

Extending professional and occupational regulation

In July 2009, the Department of Health published the report of the Extending Professional Regulation Working Group. The Council will be asked to discuss the working group's recommendations.
