GTC responds to Ofsted report on primary and secondary national strategies

GTC Chief Executive Carol Adams said:

"In its' response to last month’s White Paper, the GTC has urged the government to focus most effort on closing the attainment gap rather than on making changes to school structures. Ofsted’s report, while highlighting some encouraging improvements, makes it very clear that too many children are not developing the secure literacy and numeracy skills they need to succeed as they move to and through secondary school. These issues must be addressed through support for ever more effective teaching."
