Global devotional now available on mobile phones

13th February 2008

United Christian Broadcasters (UCB) has announced that its popular quarterly devotional ‘The Word for Today’ is now available on WAP-enabled mobile phones.

‘The Word for Today,’ authored by itinerant preacher Bob Gass and his wife Debby, was first launched in 1993, as a gift to UCB supporters who assisted UCB in putting its first radio broadcasts on the air. The devotional is now translated into 14 languages and is distributed globally to more than five million individuals. This is the first time the devotional has been made available on mobile phones in the UK.

“With The Word for Today increasing in popularity each quarter, we wanted to make it accessible to people, wherever and whenever they want to receive it”, said Brian Bennett, UCB’s Communications Director. “The added advantage of having the service on your mobile phone is that the money raised from the cost of subscription, also helps to fund other areas of UCB’s ministry.”

The service can be subscribed to by texting WORD to 83737. Each text message costs 25p (plus standard WAP charge) and there is no minimum subscription.
(WAP-enabled phones necessary. UK only)
