Get recognised for your IT excellence – final call for entries
Friday, August 1 2008
Intellect, the trade association for the UK technology industry, is making a final call for entry to local authorities that have implemented an innovative and effective IT-based solution to boast about their achievements.
The prestigious Intellect, Socitm and SOLACE Local Government IT Excellence Awards are now in their thirteenth year, and Intellect is seeking a final call for entries and nominations. As always, Intellect anticipates entries from a wide selection of local government projects: last year’s awards attracted over 30 entries. The awards are sponsored by Datapoint, the global communication experts for enterprise and call centre communications.
This year’s awards will be separated into 3 categories – service transformation, shared services and mobile and flexible working – and entrants will need to demonstrate how the use of an IT system or process has improved the efficiency and delivery of services within local communities.
The deadline for entries is Friday 08 August 2008. The shortlist will be selected in September and the winners presented their awards at the Socitm Annual Conference, 12-14 October at the Celtic Manor Resort, South Wales.
Last year’s winner was London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham’s Customer Access Strategy. The Strategy stood out for the judges because of its commitment to use technology to deliver beneficial and lasting change for the whole community. The Strategy uses existing data to build a sophisticated model of customers and their service access profiles within the borough.
Jackie Hudson, Head of IT strategy, comments: "The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham were thrilled to win this award from Intellect and Socitm for its groundbreaking customer access strategy. The council has been invited to speak at numerous events since it won the award and it has also, with its partner organisation H&F Bridge Partnership, run several workshops for local authorities to explain the background to the work, the decisions it has enabled the council to make and the improved outcomes for residents.2
