FLA CALLS FOR CONSISTENCY IN RED TAPE CUTS
17 August 2007
Responding to the publication of the Conservative Party Economic Competitiveness Policy Group’s proposals for deregulation, FLA Director General Stephen Sklaroff said:
“We need to lighten the huge burden of business regulation in this country. But today’s proposals sit oddly with last month’s suggestion from the Conservative Social Justice Policy Group of an increase in statutory regulation in the credit markets. We need a consistent approach, which preserves sensible and proportionate regulation in areas which need it, and ensures that consumers continue to benefit from flexible self-regulation - for example the FLA's robust Lending Code.”
