FLA CALLS FOR CAUTION ON DATA RESTRICTIONS
1 June 2007
The Finance & Leasing Association (FLA) today welcomed plans to simplify company law. However, in its submission to a DTI consultation, it warned of grave, unintended consequences for consumers and businesses of any restriction on the availability of director’s home address data for credit-checking purposes.
FLA Director General, Martin Hall, said:
“It is important that lenders should be fully informed if they are to make competent and responsible lending decisions and play their part in countering financial crime. Equally we acknowledge that some directors need a high level of protection. We believe our response strikes the right balance between the two requirements.”
