ERA response to Audit Commission's report on the Supporting People government programme

13 October 2005

In response to the Audit Commission's report on the Supporting People government programme, published today, Duncan Sedgwick, Chief Executive of the ERA said: "the issue of poverty, just like the issue of fuel poverty requires a joined-up approach from Government departments, agencies, stakeholders and related industry bodies."

"The ERA is soon to launch a fuel poverty helpline which will provide a dedicated resource to vulnerable individuals and households who require advice and information on matters such as benefits entitlement, relevant supplier initiatives and energy efficiency issues. The helpline has the support of Government, stakeholders and the industry and is an example of how a multi-faceted approach to problem solving can really deliver tangible solutions."
