EMF EQUAL Project Seminar:  Pathways to Economic Integration

The Ethnic Minority Foundation is holding the Pathways to Economic Integration Seminar on Wednesday 28 November 2007 in Stratford, East London.

In this Seminar, chaired by Dr Christina Julios,  EMF’s Director of Policy and External Affairs, the employment problems experienced by minority ethnic women will be discussed and the ways in which these women can be assisted.

Pathways to Economic Integration will provide an opportunity to engage with a broad spectrum of organisations connected to the employment industry, government departments, ethnic minority organisations and women’s groups.

We are delighted to have guest speakers Sandra Kerr, National Campaigns Director from Businessin the Community and responsible for the Race for Opportunity Campaign;  Evelyn Arnold,  Deputy Director of State Pensions  from the Department of Work and Pensions;  Barbara Thurogood,  Partnership Manager,  Learning Skills Council;  and Tricia King, Director of External Affairs at Birkbeck College and Caroline McDonald, Head of Outreach and Widening Participation at Birkbeck Stratford.

We are also pleased to have Durdana Ansari, the  Project Director for the EQUAL Project  speak about EQUAL which was set up by EMF in 2006 with support from the European Social Fund to provide educational and training opportunities for disadvantaged Muslim women and which now successfully operates in seven centres throughout the UK.

PATHWAYS TO ECONOMIC INTEGRATION  is a free networking event with lunch provided and will be an opportunity to engage and network with a variety of groups connected to the government and educational and employment industries and to participate in a lively and stimulating discussion forum.
