Celebs go red to fight UK's biggest killer

9 February 2010

This February a host of celebrities have teamed up with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) to encourage the UK to ‘Wear Red' on National Wear Red Day, Friday 26th February, to raise awareness and vital funds.

Celebrities include Hannah Waterman, Gemma Atkinson and Jessica Taylor who are encouraging the UK to go Red for Heart in aid of the charity.

Whether it be adding a touch of red lipstick to your outfit or wearing your favourite red shirt for the day, there are hundreds of ways you can get involved and lend your support. BHF celebrity supporters have each created stunning visuals on how they will be going red, shot by top photographer Nicky Johnston.

Singer and model Jessica Taylor has posed behind a giant red love heart for the charity, while actress Hannah Waterman has stripped of behind a giant red rose to raise awareness. Speaking of her involvement with the charity Hannah says:

"I'm going red on 26th February to raise much needed awareness for the British Heart Foundation. Heart disease is the UK's biggest killer so let's support the nation's heart charity this February and help them to continue their fantastic work."

Actress and model Gemma Atkinson, a long time supporter of the BHF lost her father to heart disease, making this a cause very close to home. Speaking of the ‘Red for Heart' campaign Gemma says:

"I know firsthand how hard it is to lose a loved one through heart disease. That's why this cause is close to my heart. Please show your support to the British Heart Foundation and go red on 26th February. Your support is greatly appreciated by me and many others."
