Beyond the Iraq War 2003: the gap between security policy-makers’ perceptions and those of the public
16 June 2006
The public perceive the terrorist threat as being exaggerated by government and magnified by some media outlets, according to the findings of new research that analyses the way in which security challenges are presented by the media, government and the military.
The project, led by Dr Marie Gillespie at The Open University, Dr Andrew Hoskins of Swansea University and Professor James Gow of King’s College, London, considered the interactions between the government, news media and audiences after the Iraq War 2003.
