Batches of Rajah curry powder withdrawn from sale

Batches of Rajah Premium Hot Curry Powder and Rajah Premium Mild Curry Powder have been withdrawn from sale because they contain the illegal dye Sudan I.
The affected products, sold by BE International Foods in 100g tins and 425g tins, have a best before date of up to and including June 2008.
The affected products also come in a 400g packet with a best before date of June 2007. Products with later best before dates are not affected.
Anyone who has any of these products at home should either throw them away or call the company's customer helpline on 0800 072 4090 to arrange for a refund and collection of the product. The products were sold at supermarkets Somerfields, Budgens and Kwik Save.
The Agency has issued a food alert to local authorities asking them to ensure the affected products are also being removed from sale at other local stores supplied by cash and carry shops. Sudan I is not a permitted colour under the Colours in the Food Regulations 1995.
