The actress pays tribute to President Morales for his international leadership on animal protection
SAN FRANCISCO. Animal Defenders International (ADI) Ambassador, CSI actress Jorja Fox, has written to congratulate President Evo Morales of Bolivia for his introduction of new legislation that will ban the use of both wild and domesticated animals from use in traveling circuses.
In her letter, Ms. Fox commended President Morales on his country's international leadership on animal protection, saying, "The fact that Bolivia will be the first South American country with a national ban on animal circuses, including both wild and domesticated species, is a tremendous credit to the compassion and progressive thinking of yourself and your nation."
Fox, a longtime supporter of animal rights, has previously worked with ADI, launching the 'Stop Circus Suffering' campaign in the U.S. in 2008, and was made an official ADI Ambassador this year.
After a successful passage through Congress, the Bill passed its final hurdle when the President signed it into law just this week. The new Act is expected to be published at the end of the week.
ADI's Political Consultant, Corey Evans: "This is a truly historic day for circus animals. Bolivia is the first country to ban animal circuses in South America and the first worldwide to ban both domestic and wild animals in circuses. We applaud President Morales for setting the highest standards of animal protection in South America, which the US must follow."
