ABI appoints new Director of Consumer Strategy
The ABI (Association of British Insurers) has appointed George Hodgson to a new post of Director of Consumer Strategy. He joins the ABI from his current role on the staff of the Treasury Select Committee of the House of Commons.
In his new role at the ABI, Mr Hodgson will:
· drive forward initiatives to improve service standards and so enhance consumer confidence in the insurance and savings industry, particularly the Action Programme on consumer confidence launched by ABI Chairman Richard Harvey at the ABI Conference earlier this year;
· co-ordinate the ABI’s work on key issues such as pensions and regulatory reform to ensure best possible outcomes for consumers and the industry;
· oversee the development of the industry’s Raising Standards Quality Mark Scheme.
Welcoming George Hodgson to the ABI, Stephen Haddrill, Director General, said:
“I am determined that we continue to raise standards and serve our customers more effectively.
“This new post is an important innovation for the ABI and the whole industry. Much has been achieved by the industry to build consumer confidence. But, as we all know, there is still more to do. And the more we can do to raise our standards, the more we will be respected and listened to by the Government and regulators.”
George Hodgson said:
“My task will be to keep our eyes fixed on the prize of improving consumer service.
”The industry has undergone enormous changes in recent years. But further effort will be needed as the regulatory environment evolves and pension reforms come through.”
