260 Disc Jobs Lost In EDC Blackburn As Work Shipped To Germany

2 April 2009

260 workers, members of GMB, are to lose their jobs when US owned Entertainment Distribution Company (EDC) based at Philips Road, Whitebirk, Blackburn shuts down. EDC produces CDs, DVDs and covers for the music industry and has been operating in Blackburn for 27 years under a number of different owners.

Graham Coxon GMB organizer said "Recent orders show the factory is viable. It has come down to a straight choice. It is easier to close a factory in England than it is in Germany. EDC has factories in Blackburn and Hanover it is no surprise that the Blackburn factory is to close."
