Ivan Lewis
Biography
Ivan is 33 years of age married to Juliette and has two sons, Ben and Harry. The Lewis family live in Prestwich, Manchester. (In the constituency) Prior to being elected an MP, Ivan worked in the local voluntary sector throughout his working life for Outreach, Contact Community Group and was latterly Chief Executive of the Manchester Jewish federation. Ivan was a Bury Councillor (Sedgley Ward) until 1998 and served as Chair of the Social Services Committee between 1991 and 1995. He is a former Bury CVS Executive Committee member and Chair of Bury Mencap. Ivan continues to be a member of Bury Carers Partnership Committee. Trustee of the Holocaust Educational Trust, Vice chairman of the inter-parliamentary Council against anti-Semitism, Vice chairman of Labour Friends of Israel and a Member of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Jewish Council. A keen Manchester City supporter (Co founder of the Westminster branch of the Man city supporters club), Ivan's main parliamentary interests are health, crime, disability, the voluntary sector and education. Ivan has served on both the health and deregulation select committees. Most recently Mr Lewis has been appointed as PPS to Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, Stephen Byers MP.
