Constituency
The constituency of Bolton North East stretches from the West Pennine moors in the North to the town centre in the South and is divided into seven wards: Astley Bridge, Bradshaw, Breightmet, Bromley Cross, Crompton, Halliwell and Tonge with the Haulgh.
Bolton North East has an industrial past including Hall i' th' Wood which was the location where Samuel Crompton invented the famous Spinning Mule. Major employers in the constituency now include Sandusky Walmsley engineering, Warburton's bakery and B&Q.
Bolton North East is also home to the Market Place shopping centre which offers an impressive variety of high-street shops. Bolton Library and Museum, also in the town centre, with its art gallery and aquarium (complete with piranhas) provide culture and education for the people of Bolton.
Away from the town centre, Bolton North East also boasts the Jumbles Country Park, which includes a reservoir and beautiful scenery.
