Anglesey airport ‘Ready for take off!’

The start of scheduled flights between Anglesey and Cardiff is a vital boost for the island. The new terminal is a credit to the area.

For me the air link is the realisation of a long but focused political campaign, a part of a wider strategy to get 'Anglesey connected'. This has included increased broadband access, a better and more frequent train service, and an ongoing campaign to improve utility services on the island.

I pay tribute to all those who played a role in the conception and delivery of the airlink - the Assembly Government, the County Council, the RAF and MoD, and the local business community. Positive developments are already emerging as result of the airlink, with companies and conferences demonstrating an interest in Anglesey's potential.

The challenge now is to sustain and extend the service to include more destinations, thus encouraging further investment to Anglesey.
