Winter sports coaching
12th January 2009
Angela Watkinson, MP for Upminster, said this week,
“We are all trying to shrug off the freezing weather and trying to keep fit. What better way than to get involved in local opportunities for Sport.
“Following the success of the Summer of Sport 08, Mayor Boris Johnson and the London Development Agency will provide opportunities for people of all ages to take part in free sports coaching sessions in community sports clubs and for pupils in school sport partnerships across the capital in the Winter of Sport.
“The Winter of Sport project will increase sport participation and give the chance for people to be coached in their favourite sport and improve their game or to try one they may not have played before. This is not just for experts but is also aimed at people who have not been active before.
“In Havering, participating clubs are Havering Cormorants Diving Club, Pro Active East London (Basketball) and Harold Hill Youth Football Club.
