Simon Burns MP concerned at the level of young people under 16 years old who commit crimes and are sent to prison
22 April 2009
Commenting, Simon Burns MP said:
"It is staggering that young people under the age of 16 should sadly become involved in the criminal justice system at such a young age. Although the figures have fallen between 1997 and 2007, it is deeply distressing and worrying in each of these years between 81 and 115 under-16 year olds have received custodial sentences in Essex. Regrettably it is a reflection of the society we now live in and a terrible way for young people to start their adult life."
