Royal British Legion
This year, Remembrance Day will be on the 11th November and as important to veterans and their families from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars as well as World War 11. I hope as many people as possible will show their support for our armed services by attending their local Royal British Legion parade, or service in remembrance of our brave servicemen and women who have given up their lives for their country.
Recent reports in the national press have warned about additional requirements in making arrangements for local parades, such as having to prepare a risk assessment. It was also suggested that pins may not be supplied with poppies. I raised these concerns with the Home Office. I was pleased to receive an assurance that help would be available if any difficulties were encountered, so these parades, which are such an important event in the Royal British Legion calendar, should run as smoothly as ever.
