MP supports launch of Larkhill Community Forum
8 June 2009
Stockport MP Ann Coffey was on hand recently to help launch the new Community Forum with local residents from the Larkhill estate.
Both the Cheadle Crime Panel and the Larkhill Residents Association have been successful in representing Larkhill over a number of years. Residents got together and decided it was time to merge the two organisations and create the Larkhill Community Forum.
The launch took place at the Chelwood community café in Grosvenor Road, which is a hive of local activity with computer classes upstairs and, of course, delicious food. The Micker Brook restaurant in Cheadle generously donated a Free Meal for four people as the prize in a local draw, and Ann Coffey drew the winning ticket and presented the prize to winner Mrs Ronnie Jones.
Ann Coffey said:
"I am confident the Forum will help the residents of Larkhill get their voice heard in Stockport and beyond. They have already achieved so much in setting up the café, running adult education classes, the Young at Heart club and much more. The local launch really got the Forum off to a flying start!"
Local Church Minister, Steve Hough, said:
"The Crime Panel and residents association had been in existence for a number of years and achieved a great deal in the local area. However, many people feel that it is time to bring these two organizations together and create a strong, forward-looking organisation that makes Larkhill a better place to live in."
