MP presents National Breakfast Club award to local Primary School

8 May 2009

Stockport MP Ann Coffey has been invited to present a national award to Broadstone Hall Primary School in Heaton Chapel, which has been recognised as one of Britain's best breakfast clubs. Kelloggs, which runs the awards with learning charity ContinYou, is also awarding the breakfast club with £1,500 for future development.

The Broadstone Hall breakfast club, which has been providing a good breakfast for the children since 2006, has now involved local businesses in the Heaton Chapel area. The school is delighted that Littlewoods butcher, who provides the sausages and bacon for the breakfast club, now has a special "Broadstone Hall Banger."

Ann Coffey said:

"Broadstone Hall's breakfast club richly deserves this award. It's a real treat to have breakfast with the children in such a warm and stimulating environment. What a good start to the day!"

Andrew Heaton, Headteacher, said

"Sue Lewis [Breakfast Club Manager] is delighted to have won this award. It recognises the hard work, enthusiasm and creativity of the staff team to engage with the local community and provide the children with a breakfast club that is ‘special and part of their community."
