MP attacks SNP's scandalous waste of taxpayers money
Sandra Osborne has hit out at the cost of the SNP's National Conversation on Independence which hit Ayr this week. Sandra said
"It is a scandal that the SNP Scottish Government should be wasting taxpayers' cash on their independence referendum plans. The bill for the National Conversation - a series of events held at home and abroad to prepare the way for the referendum - and the expense of preparing for the independence poll is set to hit £700,000. It has tied up a huge amount of civil servants time as well as seeing a host of SNP Ministers touring the country as well as travelling abroad to punt a party political stunt.
.
"The Scottish Government are simply using this an opportunity to talk about independence, at a time when we are faced with the worst financial crisis since the 1930s. There is only one question being asked, the SNP is the only party asking it, and both the Scottish Parliament and the public have already given their answer – a resounding no to independence.. Alex Salmond's referendum is not going to happen. So why the waste of public money and staff resources?
These funds could have been far better spent fighting the effects of recession, rather than on a glorified party political broadcast on behalf of the SNP."
