Hywel Francis
MP and AM call for public inquiry
Aberavon's MP Dr Hywel Francis and its AM, Dr Brian Gibbons have jointly called for a public inquiry into the plans for the wind farms at the head of the Afan Valley. In a joint statement they outline their reasons,
"We believe that there ought to be a public inquiry because of the extensive concern expressed by local residents, particularly in Glyncorrwg. The scale of the proposed development requires local consent and agreement as well as the support of the Local Authority, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
We are also calling for an extension for the period of consultation until the 11th February and the extension of the buffer zone from two kilometres to three kilometres.
This is part of our wider campaign to achieve the designation of the locality as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty".
