McIntosh celebrates Armed Forces day for veterans
26 June 2009
Miss Anne McIntosh, MP for the Vale of York and Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Thirsk and Malton congratulated the armed forces this week as we celebrate Veterans Day tomorrow, on their continuing commitment to conflict zones throughout the world and their most recent contributions and losses experienced in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Miss McIntosh said "Our thoughts will be with the armed forces both locally and nationally on Armed Forces Day, and their work will be celebrated with events across the region".
"I am extremely proud to have four Military Bases in The Vale of York: Allenbrooke Barracks at Topcliffe, Dishforth Airfield and RAF Leeming and RAF Linton. Those serving at these bases make a massive contribution to the Armed Forces of the country as well as to the local community and local economy. I am delighted that tomorrow, Saturday 27th June gives us all the opportunity to congratulate them and celebrate with them for all they do".
